Valley of The Moon Children’s Foundation Critical Needs Fund

Critical Needs Funding is for current recipients of the VMCF Scholarships.

Valley of the Moon Children’s Foundation understands that emergency situations can arise that may distract or prevent scholars from balancing their academic duties successfully. In response, the VMCF board has established a fund to assist scholars in times of need, so they are able to focus on their academic studies.

The following are the types of needs that are eligible for funding: Academic, Critical, and Emergency.

To access this fund, we ask scholars to provide backup documentation for the requested funding need, such as medical bills, receipts, invoices, etc.

This includes unexpected expenses for classes, additional fees, technology, admission fees, etc.

Academic

This includes expenses related to housing, unexpected costs, therapy fees, medication costs, etc.

Critical

Emergency

This includes medical/dental needs and unexpected situations that require immediate solutions.

Receiving the Critical needs fund was a true lifesaver for me. It gave me the ability to go to a safe and trusted place for my wisdom teeth surgery, which was a crucial part of my college life. Without it, I wouldn't have had any other safe options. It's tough not having a family or loved ones to take care of you during such an important moment in your life, but the funds gave me a sense of relief and hope. It made me realize how important it is to have people around you who can offer support and guidance. The funds not only helped me get through my surgery but also reminded me of the power of community and how we can all come together to help one another. I will always be grateful for this assistance and for VMCF who made it possible.

As a parenting foster youth with very few options, the Critical Needs Fund helped me access the technology I needed to be successful in school. Thanks to the Valley of the Moon Children’s Foundation and Critical Needs Fund, I am about to graduate with an A.A. degree for transfer and will soon be heading to SSU for my bachelor’s. The fund was there when I needed it, and for that, I am so grateful. It has been part of ending a generational cycle and creating a better future for my family.
